HOW TO GROW
Prepare the Tray: Fill a shallow seed tray with pre-moistened seed-starting mix.
Surface Sow: Spread seeds thinly across the surface and leave uncovered.
Maintain Moisture: Mist gently to avoid displacing seeds. Do not let the surface dry out.
Grow Seedlings On: Provide bright, protected conditions and transplant when seedlings are large enough to handle.
Harden Off: Gradually introduce young plants to outdoor conditions before planting out after frost risk has passed.
GARDEN & PATIO IDEAS
Sheltered Garden Paths: Use alongside walkways with enough room for mature growth.
Cottage Borders: Combine with contrasting foliage and lower-growing plants.
Patio Containers: Grow suitable plants in spacious pots with drainage holes; increase container size as needed.
CARE & FLOWER COLOR
Maintain consistent soil moisture and check container plants regularly during warm weather.
Blue coloration depends on genetics and aluminum availability, which is influenced by soil pH. Acidic soil alone does not guarantee blue flowers or the blue-and-white pattern shown.
Many bigleaf hydrangeas bloom on old wood. Avoid routine late-winter cutting back, and match pruning to the plant’s flowering habit.
Seed-grown plants do not reliably reproduce named cultivars. The pictured flower colors, layered florets, and compact plant shape are not guaranteed from seed.
