 April – Early May Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before your last expected frost date (e.g., Midwest/Northeast).
Direct Sow Outdoors Late May – Mid June Once soil temperatures reach a consistent 65°F (18°C). Sow directly into warm soil.
Germination 7 to 14 days Keep soil consistently moist. (See germination chart below).
Thinning & Early Growth Late June Thin seedlings; begin regular weekly deep watering. Apply an organic liquid fertilizer (like fish emulsion).
Baby Leaf Harvest 25 - 35 days First harvest of tender young leaves possible.
Main Harvest 45 - 55 days Full-sized leaves ready for harvest. Succession planting: Sow new seeds every 2-3 weeks for a continuous summer supply.
